Let's say I got fooled by the samples from Vanguard's myspace, which I thought were very promising. However (didn't you see this coming?), upon listening to the whole thing, I realised something is missing probably in the songwriting department as the songs tend to sound very similar, or in other words, don't stand out among each other. Vanguard's musicians are not bad at all though, and if listened to at the correct dosage, "Hydralchemy" is actually fine, especially if you like female Gothic bands and this time with blackened male vocals and a cello.
