Genre: Electronic Symphonic Metal

Dol Ammad music is definitely original and mastermind Thanasis Lightbridge calls it Electronic Arts Metal. Together with a 12-piece choir and a lot of electronic elements, Star Tales is a one of a kind release. Listening to the first track (excluding the intro) "Eclipse", you will understand how expansive Dol Ammad's music can sound.

If you are expecting operatic / sweet female singing to go with this record, I'm afraid you are wrong. In fact, the singing is closer to Death Metal style and as may be figured out from the album name, in German. The musical and orchestral arrangements are however, exceptional though.

Rather short of an album, but no boring or filler material, just a solid 38 minute worth of Symphonic Black Metal that is definitely among my favourite of the genre. Still looking forward to the coming release from the band this year.

When you used to be a Death metal band and suddenly bring in a woman as vocalist and turn to a far more accessible Symphonic Metal sound, it's no wonder no one who keeps an eye out for the Symphonic Metal genre haven't heard of them before. If you happen to be one of those, this could be a little surprise in a pleasant way ;)

Only had the chance to listen to it once, but I can already tell it's Epica's most cohesive work to date. It also have a heavier sound to it, though still sticking to the Prog side which makes the band stands out in musical terms and Simone is in great form.
