Girlschool is probably one of the first all-girl metal bands. Their lead guitarist and singer Kelly Johnson died of spinal cancer in 2007, but the band moved on and made probably one of their best albums in a long time. Tommi Iomi and Ronnie James Dio (Black Sabbath, Heaven And Hell) also make their appearances in this album.

Raven has been around for a long time, but not too well known, I think. Listening to the album, the feeling I keep getting is classic and old schoolness. If you like Heavy Metal in it's classical form, Raven's latest release would probably be able to satisfy.

Saxon is quite an overlooked Heavy Metal band probably because Iron Maiden also comes from Great Britain. However, I really think the new Saxon album sounds really cool. It may be a bit too epic for some in tracks "Battalions of Steel" and "Valley Of The Kings", but I really like them and the rest of the songs are definitely not filler material. They are varied, really catchy with great choruses, sounds classic NWOBHM but at the same time having a modern approach as well! Vocalist Biff's performance has convinced me he has a fabulous voice which is really infectious.
